The eighth pattern – 2025
This 25mm-wide lapel pin is inspired by the current eighth pattern Rising Sun badge, released by the Australian Army in August 2025.
Featuring the Tudor Crown to reflect the reign of King Charles III, the design was thoughtfully updated to meet contemporary standards of clarity, simplicity and accessibility, while honouring the enduring legacy of this historic insignia. The update reflects the accession of the new sovereign and forms part of a broader change across government and Defence, including Army emblems at Formation, Corps and Brigade level that feature the Royal Crown and Cypher. While the badge has been refined, it retains the core elements of Army’s identity, traditions and service history.
Finely detailed in miniature form, this lapel pin offers a meaningful tribute to a symbol that continues to represent Australian Army service across multiple periods of conflict.
