Miniature Figurine Stand
A great present for my son.
The extreme climate of the Gallipoli peninsula brought about many hardships for the men of the Australian Imperial Force. They quickly adapted to their new surroundings, stowing away their standard issue woollen service dress tunic in favour of cooler flannel and cotton undershirts. The broad-brimmed slouch hat became indispensable in protecting the Australian soldier from the scorching sun. This figurine represents a typical AIF infantryman at Gallipoli during the summer of 1915. He wears the 1908 pattern webbing that carried up to 150 rounds of .303 ammunition for his SMLE rifle. Crafted in antique bronze, this cold-cast bronze figurine stands approximately 20cm tall.
